Measured Survey &  Site Assessment
The next stage in the design process is for me to undertake a site survey. This is necessary in order to establish and plot what already exists on the site, analyze your soil type and condition, record changes in levels, the location of services and any structures or plants that you wish to retain. I will at the same time record information about the locality, the plants and vernacular buildings and local materials. This information will enable me to produce a garden design that relates to its location and that will function efficiently. A detailed scale drawing will then be produced from which the design will evolve.

Please note that on a large or complex site, it is sometimes necessary, and often more cost effective, to employ a specialist land surveyor to undertake the measured survey.  I am happy to  recommend qualified local surveyors, should the need arise.
