Profile
Based in the village of Woodbury, near Exeter, I design contemporary, creative and sustainable outdoor spaces, in response to your needs and preferences, and in tune with the wider environment. As a designer I am particularly interested in sensitivity to site and through informed planting I aim to encourage a thriving ecosystem within your garden and to reduce the need for irrigation and chemical intervention.
My training began in Fine Art. I gained a first class degree in Sculpture in 1991 and then went on to work in education for ten years, until the call of the wild finally lured me outside and I undertook the RHS Certificate in Horticulture and an intensive course of training in Garden Design with John Brookes MBE and Nigel Fuller. I gained a distinction in both disciplines and, with the aim of fusing art and horticulture, I launched dana assinder garden design in July 2004.
I love the challenge of designing gardens for all kinds of people in all sorts of places, from small urban courtyards to large rural gardens. I am currently working on private and public projects in the South West and would be happy to discuss your project, be it large or small, near or far, on a no-obligation basis. Do feel free to give me a call.
All my design work is fully insured.
